Picea ‘Stone Pine’ (Pinus picea)

Description

Stone pine from the Mediterranean region is also called the Umbrella Pine as it forms a flat topped tree with a shady canopy, like an umbrella.
It is a pine harvested for its edible pine nuts, and with fire resistant bark and resin that is used to make turpentine and for medicinal purposes as an antiseptic. They prefer a sandy loam soil that is slightly acidic in a sunny position. Mature growth 12m.
